From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 1203)
I lay down and slept;
I woke again, for the Lord sustained me.
I will not be afraid of many thousands of people
who have set themselves against me all around.
Arise, O Lord! Save me, O my God!
For you strike all my enemies on the cheek;
you break the teeth of the wicked.
Psalm 3:5-7
Last night, I felt too tired to write an update. I collapsed on my mattress in the hallway, not remembering much.
The previous night, when I asked you to pray before going to bed on Sunday, was insane for Ukraine. That night, they mainly targeted Rivne. They launched 479 drones and 20 missiles. That was a record number so far. However, it feels like our air defense was also able to set their record when they neutralized all the missiles and 459 drones. Their success rate was 96% and that’s unbelievable. God is so good and gracious!
Last night, when I fell asleep in exhaustion, I prayed God would let me sleep because I was too tired to carry on. I lay down and slept through one of the worst attacks on Kyiv. I thought nothing could surprise us, but everyone seemed shocked by last night’s attack. They primarily targeted Kyiv and Odesa, launching 7 missiles and 315 drones. They have improved their drone strategy, so they are harder to shoot down. Our air defense got all the missiles and 278 drones. We woke up to the smell and dark clouds of smoke. They hit a warehouse in one of Kyiv’s districts. It was shocking for me to hear the news from my friends because we slept through it, and I am glad we did.
Our school felt unusually quiet today, even though it was the official last day of school with the yearbook signing. One could tell the kids felt tired after a sleepless night, but the mood was still cheerful.
We’ll celebrate the end of the school year with a Talent Show tomorrow. Please pray for a blessed time. These kids deserve some celebration. May the Lord be gracious to us.
