6/13/2025 — Even birds weave nests from optical fiber on the frontline. If they don’t give up, then why should we?

From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 1205)

But let all who take refuge in you rejoice;
let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them,
that those who love your name may exult in you.
Psalm 5:11

Thank you for all your prayers; they do make a difference. God is so good.

Yesterday, we were blessed with a night without air raids, which allowed us to get a decent amount of sleep. We were also blessed with an attack-free day in Kyiv, which allowed us to celebrate the end of the school year with a Talent Show and graduation ceremony for my amazing 4th-graders (and my son is one of them!).

As I keep thinking about my now-former students, I am reminded that they started Kindergarten during the COVID pandemic. Their first grade was interrupted by the full-scale invasion. Their second grade was overshadowed by blackouts. A lot of their third grade was spent in the basement. Yet in their fourth grade, they are resilient, caring, and have compassionate hearts. They are my inspiration and a reminder of God’s faithfulness. I know that these kids know that values matter. They will graduate in 2033, and nobody knows what our world will be like then. However, God has already blessed this class with a wonderful time at campout and an attack-free graduation, so I have reasons to trust He will take care of them.
