6/14/2025 — While russia tries to destroy, Ukraine tries to preserve.

From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 1206)

All my enemies shall be ashamed and greatly troubled;
they shall turn back and be put to shame in a moment.
Psalm 6:10

While russia tries to destroy, Ukraine tries to preserve.

There was a Ukrainian artist and an active representative of the Ukrainian underground and human rights movement in the 1960s, Alla Horska, who created several impressive mosaic murals. Her best-known work, “Boryviter” (kestrel or windhover falcon), was created in Mariupol. Alla Horska was murdered by the KGB in 1970, and her masterpiece was damaged by the same barbarians in 2022 when Mariupol was occupied. Now, the wall with the mosaics is covered from the public as if to erase the memory of it. But you cannot hide something that brings light.

This year, a team of artists recreated the mosaic and assembled it as a puzzle to allow its transportation. This mosaic will tour European capitals to tell the story of the spirit that cannot be broken.
To fund this tour, the artists also created a second copy of the mosaic. It was divided into 1250 fragments, and people could purchase the right to become the guardians of a fragment until Mariupol is free again. On that day, all the guardians will bring their fragments there to bring the masterpiece back to life.

It’s an act of hope and faith. Lord, grant us the day to see it fulfilled.
