Political scientist Maksym Dzhyhun discussed how Israel’s strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities will play out, how the United States will respond, and how this will affect the war in Ukraine during a Radio NV broadcast on June 13.
Unfortunately, there are all indications that this war will also impact Ukraine, given the multitude of factors and interests of various countries that have now converged in Israel’s attack on Iran.
First, regarding the possibility of restoring [Iran’s] nuclear potential, we still don’t know how serious the consequences of this attack were. Indeed, there are many reports of strikes on nuclear infrastructure, and there is information that over 300 explosions occurred at various sites. But we shouldn’t forget that with the help of external players, such as Russia or China, Iran’s capabilities, particularly in the nuclear component, could be restored in a relatively short period.
The question is whether the representatives of the scientific elite working on this nuclear program were truly all eliminated. That’s a far more complex component than, say, technical capabilities.
So, nothing is finalized yet.
But speaking specifically about the Russian-Ukrainian confrontation and the impact of these strikes, it’s important to consider how events will unfold from Iran’s perspective, because Iranian officials have repeatedly stated that if such an attack occurred, Iran would undoubtedly retaliate not only against Israel but also target American infrastructure in nearby countries where their military bases or diplomatic missions are located….
