Ukrainian defenders captured another Chinese citizen fighting for Russia in the war against Ukraine, serving in the 102nd Regiment of Russia’s 150th Division, the Hochu Zhyt (‘I Want to Live’) project, supported by Ukraine’s Defense Ministry and Main Directorate of Intelligence, reported on June 27, releasing footage of the prisoner.
The video features Wang Wu (call sign “Sablia” (‘Saber’)), born Aug. 25, 2000.
“Like most Russian mercenaries, he was promised rear-line work but was sent to the front near Toretsk after training, along with the other people involved in the video at once,” the caption reads.
Wang Wu reportedly deeply regrets signing a contract with Russia’s Defense Ministry and wishes to return home.
In the video, Wang Wu recounts arriving in Moscow by plane, then traveling to Ufa, where he spent over a month at a military enlistment office awaiting medical clearance. He was later sent to Rostov for training.
After a week of additional training in Ukraine, he said, “They took our phones, passports, and bank cards, and sent us straight to the front.”
