From: Euromaiden Press — The former US ambassador to Ukraine who stepped down after Trump’s inauguration just slammed the Pentagon’s decision to halt critical air defense shipments
Bridget Brink resigned in April after serving as US Ambassador to Ukraine since May 2022. She cited disagreements with Trump’s foreign policy approach.
In her Detroit Free Press op-ed explaining her resignation, she accused the administration of “putting pressure on the victim, Ukraine, rather than on the aggressor, Russia.” She called the approach “dangerous and immoral” and characterized it as appeasement.
Brink documented Russia’s war toll in her op-ed: thousands of civilian deaths, including 700 children, over 150,000 documented war crimes, and the abduction of 20,000 children.
She warned that “if we allow Putin to redraw borders by force, he won’t stop with Ukraine” and noted: “if Putin succeeds, it sends signals to China that will undermine the security balance in Asia and throughout the world.”
Brink served under five presidents over three decades. Secretary Rubio asked her to stay when she first tried to resign in January. She remained three more months before stepping down.
She’s now running for Congress in Michigan’s 7th District in 2026.
Her criticism of halting air defense shipments aligns with her stated position: “Peace at any price is not peace at all — it is appeasement. And history has taught us time and again that appeasement does not lead to safety, security or prosperity. It leads to more war and suffering.”
