7/9/2025 — Can you negotiate with a monster set on your annihilation?

From: Maia Mikhaluk (1232nd day)

Can you negotiate with a monster set on your annihilation? Can diplomacy tame a regime that feeds on ruins, ash, and blood? In case it had not been clear to someone before, last night’s ruzzian attack of record-number 741 drones and missiles gave the answer louder than ever.

“Diplomatic means to end the war in Ukraine have been exhausted.” — Mertz, Chancellor or Germany.

Finally – a rare moment of clarity and realism! But how many lives did this clarity cost? For over 11 years since ruzzian aggression started in Crimea and over 3 years of undisguised ruzzian brutality, the world experimented: with phone calls and peace tables, with gentle language and “off-ramps,” with asking nicely while cities burned.

And while Western leaders spoke of talks, putin waged war – a war not just on Ukraine’s land, but on our right to exist, on our people, our homes, our children’s future.

Diplomacy with a terrorist doesn’t end war — it deepens it. Each “pause” in pressure gave putin time to reload. Each polite nod toward “negotiation” gave him ground to advance. And Ukraine paid the price — in bodies, in broken cities, in stolen peace.
It would be good if not only Mertz, but every leader in every capital, finally called things by their true name: putin is not a partner for negotiating peace, he is a maniac who must be stopped. Not reasoned with. Stopped.
