7/24/2025 — Ukraine is fighting for democracy — on every front.

Ukraine is fighting for democracy — on every front.
This week, while ruzzian drones and missiles continue to strike Ukrainian cities, people across Ukraine took to the streets — to defend democracy that is being attacked not only by enemy from outside but also from within. Parliament, led by President Zelensky’s party, passed a law that stripped independence from Ukraine’s key anti-corruption bodies. It handed oversight to the Prosecutor General — a figure with a long history of political influence. Zelensky signed it into law the same day. It was a direct blow to one of the greatest post-Euromaidan reforms — the hard-won independence of anti-corruption institutions.

But Ukrainians noticed. And Ukrainians acted. In Kyiv, Lviv, Kharkiv, and beyond, people showed up with signs, voices, and conviction. We’ve spent over a decade fighting for a democratic, European future — we’re not handing it away now, not even during war. Even under air raids, even after sleepless nights in shelters, people still find the strength to go to work and then show up to protest.

Some in the West — like pro-ruzzian voices eager to twist the story — claim these are anti-war protests. That’s a lie. These protests are pro-democracy. Nobody in these protests is demanding signing capitulation to ruzzia.

The bad news: Our elected leaders made a grave mistake, believing war would distract us from their attempt to concentrate power.

The good news: Ukrainian society is still wide awake — ready to hold its leaders accountable and defend democratic institutions.

Zelensky has promised to revise the law. But protests continue — and will continue — until independence is restored to our anti-corruption bodies.

This is Ukraine. We don’t worship leaders. We don’t excuse betrayal with past victories. We stand up — on the battlefield, in our streets, in our Parliament — for freedom, for justice, for a future we’ve chosen.

This is not a sign of weakness. It’s the ultimate proof of strength. And it’s one more reason why Ukraine is worth supporting.
