From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 1251)
Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and uphold me with a willing spirit.
Psalm 51:12
July 28-29 is the day when Ukraine commemorates the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine, Volunteers, and Civilians Who Were Executed, Tortured, or Died in Captivity.
This date was chosen because on the night of July 28-29, 2022, russian occupational forces shelled a barrack in Olenivka prison, where Ukrainian prisoners of war were held. It was meant to be a false-flag operation. At least 50 Ukrainian POWs were killed, and about 150 were injured. This massacre is one of the notorious war crimes committed by russia against the POWs. The stories shared by the survivors who returned to Ukraine after prisoner swaps send chills down the spine.
It will not be forgotten. The Lord will avenge the innocent.
