Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham fired back at former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev after the Kremlin official threatened the United States with war in response to Donald Trump shortening his ultimatum to Moscow over its war on Ukraine.
U.S. President Donald Trump is “serious” about ending Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Graham said in his July 29 post on X.
“To those in Russia who believe that President Trump is not serious about ending the bloodbath between Russia and Ukraine: You and your customers will soon be sadly mistaken,” Graham wrote. “You will also soon see that Joe Biden is no longer president.”
The senator urged the Kremlin to return to the negotiating table.
On July 14, Trump threatened to impose 100% tariffs on Russia and secondary sanctions on countries that continue to buy Russian oil unless Moscow agrees to a peace deal with Ukraine within 50 days. However, the following day, Trump said the deadline he had given the Kremlin “might come even sooner” than 50 days.
