Ukraine is ready to cooperate with Japan in the field of unmanned technologies — including joint drone manufacturing, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said, Kyodo news outlet wrote on Aug. 4.
He made this announcement in his visit to Tokyo where he attended a forum on the Asian nation’s cooperation in rebuilding the war-torn country, where 29 collaboration agreements were signed across a wide range of areas.
“We are global leaders in drone production,” Sybiha said.
“We’re ready to share our experience with Japan and work together on manufacturing, for example, drones — in a way that would be mutually beneficial.”
Given Japan’s strict constitutional restrictions on arms transfers, Sybiha noted that the types of drones being considered could range “from agricultural to intelligence use.”
He also held talks with Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya.
Iwaya reaffirmed that Japan will continue supporting Ukraine’s efforts to achieve a “just and lasting peace.”
