8/7/2025 — “Oh, grant us help against the foe, for vain is the salvation of man!…”

From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 1260)

Oh, grant us help against the foe,
for vain is the salvation of man!
With God we shall do valiantly;
it is he who will tread down our foes.
Psalm 60:11-12

Dear friends, prayer warriors, those who have been interceding for Ukraine for months and years, let’s join our forces and cover Ukraine with prayers on its Independence Day, August 24th.

It is going to be Sunday, so I encourage you to make it a special solidarity day at your church — put up blue-and-yellow flowers, have appropriate sermons, hold a minute of silence to honor the victims of russian aggression, play Ukrainian music, offer Ukraine-themed children’s activities, have a Ukrainian-style lunch or dinner… The possibilities are endless, and I will be happy to help you with ideas, but most importantly, let’s turn August 24th into the Global Day of Prayer for Ukraine.

This initiative was suggested by the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations and supported by the President of Ukraine. Just imagine the prayer that starts in Kyiv on August 24th, goes across the globe, through all the time zones, and ends at the Prayer Breakfast in Kyiv on August 25th. I know that prayer has incredible power, and that’s what moves all our victories on the frontline and diplomatic fields.

Here are the specific prayer points we ask you to pray for on August 24 and in the days leading up to it:

– For a just and lasting peace—that God would stop the war and that light would overcome darkness.
– For the protection of Christians in the occupied territories and for all those who minister under persecution.
– For the return of abducted children and healing for wounded families.
– For global support — so that the world does not grow weary of standing with Ukraine against evil.
– For the protection and defense of Ukrainian cities, villages, and people from bombing.
– For comfort for those who have lost loved ones and for emotional and spiritual restoration.
– For the wisdom and courage of world leaders in the fight against the dictatorial coalition of evil.

This list and other resources are available on the Pray for Ukraine website along with the sign-up list for the global prayer chain.

I pray that this day of prayer will not only bless Ukraine but also lead to a powerful awakening of believers around the world.

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (Chronicles 7:14)
