I know that the next several days will feel agonizing. All the speculations about the Trump/putin meeting, all the possible scenarios, all the compromises expected/demanded from Ukraine… I have no energy or patience for it.
Even the most recent phrase I heard today, “There will be some swapping of territories, to the betterment of both.” Could someone explain this to me? Does Ukraine give up its territories in exchange for russian land? Is it that we give them Crimea, and they give us Kursk, Belgorod, and Ural? Or are we expected to give up territories in addition to what’s already been taken away from us? And please don’t think about it just as territories – they are homes, relatives, traditions that have been destroyed.
This “swapping of territories” is expected to take place in Alaska, the land considered “traditionally russian” by most of our post-Soviet neighbors (I still remember this legend about the gracious queen who sold Alaska to the silly Americans). What if they demand Alaska? Will it be given over? It is so ridiculous that it’s hard to continue this train of thought. However, there’s little to laugh about.
Please pray for God’s justice and His wisdom to prevail in any negotiations that take place regarding Ukraine’s future. It’s excruciating to listen to the wisdom of men, yet we pray for the mouths of liars to be stopped and for God’s truth to shine brightly.
