From: Kyiv Independent — U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Aug. 15 to discuss a deal to end Moscow’s war against Ukraine — without Ukraine’s participation. The plan envisions a “territorial swap” between the two countries: Ukraine would have to withdraw from the Ukrainian-controlled parts of partially occupied Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts in exchange for Russia’s withdrawal from parts of Kharkiv and Sumy oblasts.
We asked Ukrainians on the streets of Kyiv how they feel about Trump’s plan to negotiate a peace agreement with Putin without Ukraine’s involvement, and what they think about such a territorial exchange.
