From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv—Day 1282 (posted on the morning of 1283)
Give justice to the weak and the fatherless;
maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
Psalm 82:3-4
The night was awful. I woke up from the loud explosion of ballistic missiles. One came after another. Then there was the second round of drones. The air raid lasted more than 9 hours, and it felt like there were a few small gaps of quiet in those nine hours.
They targeted residential blocks in our part of the city, even though it was far enough from where we live. There were two direct missile strikes on an apartment building. The death toll is 21, but the rescue operation continues, and about 10 more people may be under the rubble. Among those murdered by russia last night, there were at least three children, and the youngest one was 2 years old.
They launched almost 600 drones and over 30 missiles. Our air defense intercepted 589 aerial threats, including 26 missiles. However, over 220 apartment buildings have been damaged as a result of the attack. At least two of the families from our school live in the buildings hit by the drones or the debris.
This morning, when I looked out the window, I saw bright sky and sun, and I thanked God for the morning that comes after the scariest nights. We saw pillars of smoke on our way to school. About half of the students stayed home, so it was a slow day with little energy.
It feels like the world isn’t even looking anymore, so the terrorists feel empowered. That’s why I even more cherish each of you who cares and prays.
