9/1/2025 — “Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him…”

From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 1285)

Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.
Psalm 85:9

I spent more than half an hour yesterday just staring at my screen, unable to write anything. The words refused to come as I still felt drained after last week’s attacks.

However, today, we were blessed to spend an afternoon with a wonderful family, and as we were sitting in their cosy home, I felt filled with inspiration and life. They are a family of artists, and their youngest son gave his life fighting on the frontline, yet his memory keeps on living. His parents created a beautiful garden in his memory and filled their space with beautiful reminders of their son’s beautiful personality. They invite artists and welcome people into their home to create something beautiful, refusing to stop at the pain and loss but moving on to hope.

As we were leaving, they presented us with a picture created by their friend, Nikita Titov. As I often use his illustration in my daily updates, I get to share it with you. The tree of life is a common motive in art, but as I look at this picture, I see the beautiful home we got to visit today, surrounded by a blooming garden and overflowing with life.

That is the glimpse of the Victory we can already see today.
