From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 1290)
Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love,
that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
and for as many years as we have seen evil.
Psalm 90:14-15
The first few weeks of school are always exhausting. It’s getting to know your students, figuring out the relationships, adjusting your teaching plans, and so much more. I’ve been falling asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow (and a couple of times before it does), before I could write anything.
However, I could see a very clear blessing this week. After spending 3 hours and 39 minutes in the basement during Tuesday’s air raid, I gained a valuable perspective. I am no longer worried about anything that would normally upset me. Instead, I praise God for every day without an air raid! Every day when we can breathe fresh air, see sunlight, and freely leave the room, every day when we can see God’s miracles.
It’s the weekend ahead, and we pray for a restful time without the craziness of our “neighbors.”
