From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 1313)
From the rising of the sun to its setting,
the name of the Lord is to be praised!
Psalm 113:3
During the night, russia attacked Ukraine with almost 600 drones and almost 50 missiles. Kyiv was their primary target, but thankfully, our air defense shot down 95% of what was launched.
Still, the damage is done. A 12-year-old girl was killed in her apartment. A doctor and a nurse were killed at a cardiac clinic where they were working. A missile took out a whole neighborhood block on the outskirts of Kyiv. Yet do you know the most incredible sight? It is the people worshipping God among the ruins.
One of the ruined apartments belonged to a worship leader who had to flee from now-occupied Melitopol. Today, he lost his second home, but he could testify that he and his family were safe and unharmed after the roof collapsed when a missile struck just a few meters from their home. Later, this family and their friends from church were singing and preaching about God’s love at the very spot where He rescued them. What a testimony!
This Sunday, many people went to church with a heavy heart, yet choosing to praise God together, choosing to praise Him amid the ruins, praising Him in our storms of life is the only way to attain the victory we long for.
One may argue that this photo by Kyrylo Chubotin should be labeled as the site of the attack, but I would rather call it a place of worship.
