From: Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv Day 1333
Come, bless the Lord,
all you servants of the Lord,
who stand by night in the house of the Lord!
Psalm 134:1
The monitors warn about the possibility of a massive combined aerial attack this night.
There’s no air raid yet, but we have our son sleeping in the hallway just in case. We cannot afford to interrupt his sleep every time during the air raid, so we had to go through a bit of arguing at bedtime. He wants to sleep in his bed in his room – what a shocking and unheard of desire! How dare a kid want it, right? Our son was in 1st grade when the full-scale war began. He started middle school this year. When I think about him and his classmates and all the opportunities lost and all the pain and anxieties they have to go through, I get really angry. However, a lasting peace is not likely until russia remains an aggressive empire. My prayer is for it to disassemble into independent national republics, repent for its past actions, repair all the damage, and cease being a threat to anyone.
When we move to the hallway during an air raid, we bring our cat with us. Sometimes she is the first one to come, and sometimes I have to wake her up from her slumber. That’s when I’m reminded that the whole creation suffers from this war.
Lord, have mercy!
