From: Ukraine: News — President Volodymyr Zelensky stated after his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump that Ukraine’s position remains unchanged — no withdrawal from unoccupied eastern territories in exchange for any so-called peace deal.
💬 “I explained to Mr. Witkoff once again: if tomorrow Putin makes new demands after the war ends one way or another, will we have to withdraw from more territory again? And if I, for instance, add two Russian regions to Ukraine’s Constitution, will they withdraw from those territories? It’s a non-working model,” Zelensky emphasized.
This statement reflects a broader truth: Ukraine currently holds the initiative. On the battlefield, Ukrainian forces continue to resist Russia’s offensives, maintaining control and striking deep into the logistics that sustain Moscow’s war effort. Politically, Ukraine stands firm on the principles of sovereignty and international law — principles Russia has repeatedly violated.
To concede land now would not bring peace; it would validate aggression. History has proven that rewarding an invader only postpones the next war. From Munich in 1938 to Crimea in 2014, appeasement has never produced stability — only new cycles of violence.
Ukraine’s resolve sends a message far beyond its borders: peace cannot be built on surrender. The Ukrainian people are not defending just their land — they are defending the world’s most fundamental rule — that no country can be allowed to conquer another by force.
