The Lord is the strength of his people;
he is the saving refuge of his anointed.
Psalm 28:8

My son is working through his Advent journal. One of the questions asked, “What is something you are eagerly waiting for?” He gave a single-word answer — “Peace.” And his answer pierced me to the core because that’s something all of us are eagerly waiting for, and something kids shouldn’t be wishing for as they approach Christmas.

I believe that God hears these sincere prayers. They matter more than business deals, the mighty men of this day and age, or various experts. That’s why I will keep praying even as the world grows in its insanity.

Hear the voice of my pleas for mercy,
when I cry to you for help,
when I lift up my hands toward your most holy sanctuary.
Do not drag me off with the wicked,
with the workers of evil,
who speak peace with their neighbors while evil is in their hearts.
Give to them according to their work and according to the evil of their deeds;
give to them according to the work of their hands;
render them their due reward.
Psalm 28:2-4
