Lxxx (Day 18): Dear brothers and sisters, We have a sunny frosty morning today. This night my 83-year-old father had a heart attack, after taking medicines he feels better. My mother is going to be 80 this month. They both experienced Nazi’s occupation in their childhood. Both my grandfathers fought in World War II. My grandmothers survived the occupation. In my childhood I heard a lot of war stories. That war made such a big impact on their generation. Till the end of their lives they kept in their closets the supply of soap, hard chuck and matches. They were always satisfied with poor conditions of living and often repeated the phrase “if only there was no war”.

People of today have changed so much for these two weeks. Many things we were not satisfies with before are not important any more. I heard many people saying : “ We didn’t realize what a good life we had”. Peace is the state we want most of all now and we will never be the same after this war.

Yesterday Sxxx and Vxxx were buying and delivering the supplies for our local military unit. I was working in the local defense center and had some good conversations with people. I am glad to see there some people who used to be my students in the past.

Odessa is busy every day. The people there patrol the main streets day and night. Many people come to work on the beach, they fill the sacks with sand, they use them to build barricades and various constructions to block the ways of potential attack.

We heard a lot of threats about a big Odessa attack and were glad and surprised why it didn’t happen. Yesterday we got an information about the riot of one of military ships approaching Odessa. There were 600 marines who were supposed to land our beach. Knowing about the failure of previous landing attempts where all landers were killed and seeing the fortifications and strong defense the Russian marines understood that it means death for them and their commanders just use them as cannon fodder. They rebelled and the ship retreated. This information was received from a captive marine who was sorry that on his ship they didn’t do the same.

It’s amazing how God works.
Thank you for your prayers. Please, continue to pray.

Love in Christ,
Sxxx and Lxxx

  1. It is amazing how God works! Praise God for the report of the rebellion on this ship. We are praying Psalm 35:1 for you– Contend, O Lord, with those who contend against Ukraine and fight against those who fight against Ukraine. Praying also that these perilous times continue to give you occasion to speak gospel truth into people’s hearts.

  2. We are praying for your parents, that God would strengthen them and that he would heal your father. We are praying for God’s protection and that in the midst of all you are going through, you would feel God’s peace which passes all understanding. We pray that God would grant each of you wisdom, courage and stamina for whatever you will face today. “I will bless the LORD who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the LORD is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.” Psalm 16: 7-8. We love you and keep you in our prayers!

  3. Good Morning
Praying for your mother and father. We remember you and pray for you and send the love of Jesus to you Praise the Lord for His presence with you. He will not forsake you

  4. I pray that your father will recover and that your entire family will be safe. It is hard to tell you how fervently those of us in the west pray for you. We are so far apart, geographically, but close in the protective arms of our Lord. May God bless and keep you today.

  5. Thank you for the news!

It’s too long to type out, but for prayers of help and hope, read Psalm 138-146. It only takes about 10 minutes to read them out loud.

  6. Growing up I often heard my dad say, “God works in mysterious ways” I’m thankful one ship turned around and pray for all of you as you defend, serve, and share the gospel.

  7. “When peace, like a river, attends my way
    When sorrows like sea-billows roll:
Whatever my lot, God has taught me to say It is well, it is well with my soul.
“Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
    Let this blessed assurance control–
That Christ has regarded my helpless estate and has shed His own blood for my soul!”

  8. So many of us Believers here in the US scour the news everyday for reports on how the amazing resistance of you dear Ukrainians is going. We pray for the safety of your President (who needs Jesus Messiah above all else)! We pray for those brave men fighting the Evil Enemy. We pray for our Father’s judgment on them. Every morning when we wake, we search the news, and every night before going to bed, the same, and often, “in the night watches” the same. Our hearts are aching for you all the time, often with tears and cries to the Lord Jesus to deliver you from death so that you can see peace come to Ukraine once again, and so that you can continue to love and serve others in such desperate need. Yours in the Strong Name of Jesus our Lord and Savior who has prepared a Better Home for us! – Johnny & Becky Long, PCA, missionaries with Serge based in Western NC, USA

  13. “Comfort, comfort my people says your God, speak tenderly to Jerusalem and
Cry out that her warfare has ended, that her inequity is pardoned…

He gives power to the faint, and to them that have no might he increases strength… they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength… “
    Isa 40.

We continue to pray daily for you all!
