From Lxxx (Day 29): Dear brothers and sisters, Yesterday a family from Mariupol came to our town and we received them and helped them settle in our church guest rooms. They are Axxxx and Sxxxx, who came with their daughter and two little granddaughters – 2 and 4 years old.
Their story is a miracle. When the war started one month ago Axxxx who is a sailor was having a voyage. He immediately started trying to get back home. When he got to Ukraine he headed to Mariupol, his city which was already bombed and attacked. It’s hard to imagine how he was able to get into the city. He found his wife and daughter with two little children in a cold apartment with no water. They had to run into the basement each time the bombing started.
Axxxx decided to take his family out of the city by any means. His car wasn’t destroyed so they decided to go by car. At that point when many people in Mariupol were staying in cold apartments under the bombs with no food and water, the mayor of the city tried to negotiate with Russians about “a green corridor” to let people leave the city. But it is impossible to negotiate with those who have no concept of honor and mercy.
They agreed to give a corridor but each time people tried to move out, the shelling began. Many people died there. Then one day a group of people from the neighborhood where Axxxx lived, who still had cars, decided to make an attempt to leave the city at their own risk. There was a long line of cars and at some point the shelling began again and some cars stopped there for ever. But Axxxx was able to move on and finally he left the city that became a nightmare for them. They were driving from one city to another for several days thinking where to stop and finally came to our town. It is clear that God had a plan for them to be here. Please, pray for us to serve them and share the gospel. “The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.” Proverbs 18:10
In Christ, Lxxx
