4/3/2022 – Belgorod Dnestrovsky

From Lxxx (Day 39): Dear brothers and sisters, It’s Sunday and we are going to worship our Lord as His church.

Yesterday we received a new group of refugees. There are 10 people staying in our church. This new group is a young couple with a baby and the women from Kharkiv. They have already stayed at different places and were glad to see our comfortable rooms with a shower and a kitchen. Today we will talk more to find out their needs.

We work in a close contact with other volunteer organizations in our town. It’s amazing how everything is organized how many people perform specific work organized in one big system. I can say that we’ve gone a long way since 2014 and we’ve learnt a lot. As a church we also can be good witnesses for the volunteers we work with.

We really feel safe in our town. But we must be thankful to God and to air defense, because many rockets that head our area are destroyed in the air. Friday evening three rockets hit the suburbs of Odessa and yesterday there were more attacks that caused fires in some places in Odessa. So, our elders suggest us to have our worship in the basement of our church today.

General situation now is contradictory. It brings us some relief to see that the enemy left Kiev and Chernigiv area. But there is more concentration of the troops in the east and there is a threat for Ukraine to be completely cut off the Azov sea.

When our army returned to the liberated areas of Kiev region a big shock hit all the country of what was seen there. Thousand of dead bodies of civil people. Now coroners work and define what happened to the people there. Many of them were just shot, many families with children who tried to leave the occupied places were shot on the roads. Many bodies are found with signs of tortures: raped women, men with tied hands and with many wounds on their bodies, many burnt bodies. The houses are robbed. In one small city they found a huge grave with about 300 dead bodies covered with soil.

Just no words. It’s so hard to understand what makes people do it.

Please, pray for our emotional recovery. Pray for Christians in Ukraine to bring hope to people around because only Jesus can give complete healing to our souls.

In Christ,

  1. Praying…Today Lord we see the signs of spring around us, the red of new branches. Buds and green in the underbrush, promise that You are preparing the world for fresh growth. We think of the muddy fields of Ukraine, Lord and pray that you will bring peace and life there. That smoking tanks and missiles will give way to tractors, plowed fields, grain and harvest. That out of death you will bring life not only to the fields but to the hearts and minds of people there. Preserve and grow your church in Ukraine. May the gospel of Jesus spread across the countryside, across all of Europe like spring green. We know that rulers and wars follow the course of your plan. We trust that your good purpose will come to pass.

  3. Matt 28- Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to Me…Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world.”

  4. Our Father in heaven:
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
Give us today our daily bread.
    Thy will be done.
Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as in heaven.
Thine is the kingdom, power and glory.

  5. Thank you for this update. The Russians are doing horrific things. Praying for Ukraine’s victory and emotional recovery. “The Lord is near to the broken hearted.”. Psalm 34:18
