4/3/2022 – Mariupol

Reposted from FB by Clay Quarterman (MTW missionary retired): What do Ukrainians feel when watching this devastation of the cities they know and love? Our team’s former secretary wrote:

Anastasiia Thomas: This is part of Mariupol, or what is left of it, where we lived 💔
I can see from here destroyed buildings of my kindergarten, my school, I can see smoke above our house, the park where we were going with our dog is completely burned now, I can see the beach where we were going to swim and do camping. I close my eyes and I remember how beautiful it is when during spring time the alleys of apricot trees blossom and how the sea changing color after winter. I open my eyes and I see what looks like from apocalyptic movie…

People, people we know, who survived, were deported to filtration camps and further somewhere in russia, and russian soldiers are living in our half destroyed by bomb house…

Why? Because we want to stay free and remain unbroken. Because we want to existe, develop and prosper. And this is enough to make someone come and ‘rescue’ us back into soviet times, destroying everything we love and bringing ‘russian world’ and ‘russian peace’ so they can feel better about their own misery and please their bloody maniac leader.

Mariupol was Ukraine and will stay Ukraine in my heart. I close my eyes, the spring is coming, and apricot trees will blossom again amidst burned buildings and broken lives 💙💛

  1. Matt. 28- Jesus said, “Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world.”
Nor is He a comforter Who can only cry with you, unable to help- “All authority in heaven and earth has been given to Me.”

  2. Our Father in heaven:
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
Give us today our daily bread.
    Thy will be done.
Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as in heaven.
Thine is the kingdom, power and glory.
