4/27/2022 – Belgorod Dnestrovsky: Bridge attacked connecting to Odesa

From Lxxx (Day 63): Dear brothers and sisters, It is very unusual to live with an uncertain future. You make plans, expect one thing, but something completely different happens. It has always been like this, but war makes life even more unpredictable.

Yesterday the enemy hit with the rockets the bridge over the bay that connects our area with Odessa. This bridge was the only railway connection with three districts of Odessa region. It was also an important road giving connection with Romania and Moldova. It wasn’t destroyed completely but was seriously damaged. This morning there was another attempt to hit the bridge. This makes us upset because everything in our area is connected with Odessa. There is a big tension on the border with Trans-Dniester republic. There are some provocative acts there to distract the attention of our army from the main battles to their border.

Yesterday we had several air alarms, one of them happened when I worked in the local defense center. During the time in the bomb shelter I talked to a young man who told me his story. He is from a village nearby, few years ago he started his own business that was rather successful. He was glad to have enough income for his family and to give jobs to other people. He had a lot of plans. But now he is wearing a military uniform and is carrying a gun. His explanation was simple: “ I am here because I must protect my family, my business and my country”.

Our counselor, Vxxx, received the invitation from a German mission to help them in the work with refugees. She does sessions online. Many organizations in Europe now need the help of people who speak Russian or Ukrainian.

Rxxxx, who is originally from Khesron, is trying to help some families from there to get to Odessa. But it’s hard for them to leave the occupied city. I had calls from Kherson before, we were waiting for people to come, but they never came. We hope and pray for a quiet day. Please, pray for the protection of Odessa area.

In Christ, Lxxx

  1. I’m praying for the safety of the Odessa area. Also, for the safety of those that haven’t been heard from, that they are safe and you will soon hear from them and receive them.
