5/4/2022 – Belgorod Dnestrovsky

From Lxxx ( Day 70): Dear brothers and sisters, Yesterday was not a happy day for us. The entire territory of Ukraine was shelled – Odessa region, Western Ukraine, even Transcarpathian territory, several railway stations were destroyed. Artsiz, a city not far from Izmail, was attacked. The situation in Mariupol is still very difficult.

But the hardest news for us was the information about the death of our good friend and a respectable citizen of our town, Victor Cherevashchenko. We have known him since 2014 when we started volunteering movement in our town. We opened our church building for volunteer work and he was one of the people who came and joined us, Since then he had been very active in helping the army, fighting with corruption in our town, bringing democratic reformation to the structures of our society. In February he joined the army and was fighting in the front line. He died during the night battle on Monday. Victor wasn’t our church member but his family visited many of our events but we know that God worked in his heart and through him. It’s a big loss for our community. Please, pray for his family.

Yesterday we organized a charitable breakfast for the refugees in our town. It was nice see the people that we already know and to meet a new family – a father and two teen daughters who came from Kharkiv. The man, his name is Mxxx was not very talkative. We found out that he is a single father and worries for the future of his daughters. We learned about their needs. We plan to deliver them some food and some personal items they need. We hope they will join the support group meeting on Friday.

And there was a good news. I wrote about Oxxx whose son with his family are in Mariupol and there was no information about them. Yesterday she received a call from her daughter-in-law. They all are alive but cannot make calls because they cannot charge their phones. That lady found a place where she could charge her phone and could call. They have no true information of what is happening around, but they are influenced by Russian propaganda. They were told that all territory of Ukraine is controlled by Russia and Kiev is a Russian city now with a new government. What a lie!

We thank that this family is alive, please, pray with us for their evacuation.

I want to ask you to pray for our young church member Zxxx Sxxxx, who is 16. He and his sister are in Poland now. He is a student of a music school in Odessa, he plays the saxophone. Now he has to study remotely which is not a good way of studying for a musician. He is frustrated about it and he feels very lonely there missing his home and his friends from the church youth group. Please, pray for him.

Love in Christ,
Lxxx

  2. Dear, sister…I look forward to your daily updates. Thank you for writing them and sharing your heart and ways for us to pray. My heart hurts and I cry for you and your people. I know we all trust God for His provision and final victory, but I also know the day-to-day stress and heartaches are real. I pray that you physically feel God’s presence and peace and that He helps you to share that with the people around you. I pray that you are encouraged and that you do not become weary in doing good. I pray that God is visibly real to all of you!! You are loved by us, your family abroad.
