Our daughter and her children

From Lxxx (Day 98): Dear brothers and sisters, Today is a birthday of our daughter, Katya, and it’s the first time she celebrates her birthday so far away from us. She is in Brasov, Romania with her three children. Every evening we talk to them. We are so thankful to God for the friends He gave them, for the place where they can stay, for volunteers that help them, for missionaries who care so much and for the church that was organized there by the people from different churches of Ukraine.

Yesterday after a very disturbing morning we had a peaceful day. There was a news about sea mines that were brought to the coast by the waves during the storm. They were destroyed by sappers. It looks that we won’t be able to swim in the sea for a long time.

Our group of refugees becomes bigger and it’s interesting to watch how people are getting to know each other, make friends with each other and create subgroups. Yesterday two ladies shared with me their worries. Their husbands stay at homes and their cities are occupied now, men are not allowed to leave.

Yesterday my good friend called me from the Netherlands where she is staying almost three months already. This good Christian lady who used to be so joyful and active, sounded so depressed and sad. It’s so difficult for her to be away from her country, to be away from her church where she was so active. Sxxxx and I tried to encourage her and help her to get rig of the feeling of guilt which is so common today. People who went abroad feel guilty that they left their country, people who stay in Ukraine feel guilty that they don’t do enough for the army, people who are in the army feel guilty that there is not much progress on the way to the Victory. We should remember that God put us all in the places where we should be today and there are so many needs around. The biggest need of all people wherever they are is the need of Christ.

Please, pray for our soldiers Ixxxx and Pxxxx, our youth leaders, who were moved to different position and we don’t know where they are. They can’t make calls, Pxxxx sent a message that he can’t charge his phone in the field, so he will turn it on once in a while to send short messages.

It’s the last day of spring, we hope to see the last day of war soon.

In Christ,

Lxxx

  1. Dear Lxxx,
It must be difficult to be far from your daughter on her birthday, but so good to know she is doing well and can communicate every day with you and Sxxx.
It is sad to think people cannot go to the beach, because of the danger.
That is so true about wherever we are, we need Christ and Christ alone!
Praying for an end to this war!
    Love in Christ,
    Jill

  4. Happy Birthday, Katya! I know how difficult and sad it can be when you are away from your family on your special day…I did the same many times over my years when I lived away from home. It takes some time to get use to that. I continue to pray for the Ukraine military and people and the ministry of your church. I pray for God to help you run Russia back to their own country so you can have peace once again and your ports to send out your wheat to other countries. You will have so much rebuilding to do once this war is over after all the destruction that Russia has caused. I feel so bad for that, but hopefully the U.S. and other countries can help with that also. Please stay safe, hug your refugees for me and I will continue with my prayers.

  5. Beautiful Katy’s and her beautiful babies! Thank you so much for sharing their picture. Praying they stay safe and well. That same prayer I also pray for your soldier youth leaders. At Bible study tomorrow, I will share your words about God placing people where they need to be and our biggest need is Christ. You and your your church members and counselors are such an inspiration and I pray your work with the refugees continues to succeed. Sending love.

  6. Dear Lxxx,
What a beautiful family! Your daughter is so beautiful. And the kids so cute.
I hope Katya had a good birthday.
“Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.” Psalm 127:3

The Lord is really growing His refugee group! Good news that they are connecting with each other and sharing their stories. You are a great blessing to them.

You are so right that God puts us all in the places where we should be each day and the biggest need of all people wherever they are is the need of Christ.

Thanks to the Lord the sea mines were destroyed.

Praying for Ixxxx and Pxxxx, in their new locations.

    Your sister in Christ,
    Anne

  7. Your daughter is so beautiful as are your grandchildren. I am praying against guilt and sadness, for each one to bloom where they are planted(even if uprooted and sitting in temporary pots waiting to replanted in more permanent spots. ) God never makes mistakes and has His purpose in each day. Thank you for your faithfulness for counseling and encouraging and building up the people. When you overflow with the joy of the Lord and the hope for the future Held and led by his hand Becky
