From Lxxx (Day 111): Dear brothers and sisters, It’s a wonderful morning. I often had my morning devotionals on the beach in summer watching the sun rise over the sea. Today I had it on the balcony with a view of mountains. “ Marvellous are Thy works”. I feel constant joy of being with my grandchildren. Yesterday our bedtime Bible story was about Noah building an altar after leaving the arch. We had a good discussion why Noah had to kill and burn animals and we don’t need to do it.

My feeling of joy competes with my feeling of guilt being away from my country in such an important moment. I communicate with Sxxxx during the day through messages and in the evening we talk.

He had a busy day as always. In the morning he taught a Bible study lesson for the group that meets in the church on Mondays. Then our church members who are responsible for distributing help were making food bags and met people who visited our church. Sxxxx is encouraged by the girls from our youth group who come to the church almost every day to see if they can be of help. There is also preparation for the big cooking day on Tuesday. Tuesday and Friday are the days when our church cooks pies for the soldiers.

Yesterday I talked to our counselor Vxxx. She told me about the kitchen ministry. They decided to go out to the street where they put a tent. Because people are reluctant to go inside they decided to treat people with sandwiches and pastries right in the street, talk and try to build the atmosphere for sharing Good News.

It’s hard to read political news where the leaders of some countries in Europe try to balance between Ukraine and Russia and are very creative finding diplomatic words not to call evil by its name.

Please, pray for eyes of people everywhere would be open to see what is good and what is evil.
In Christ,

  1. Our Father in heaven,
    Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil
For Thine is the kingdom, power and glory.

  2. What a beautiful morning picture..makes me think of Austria, the greenery and village setting. I hope your being refreshed and blessed with this mini retreat.
Though I am not Ukrainian, I have guilt too, seeing my brothers and sisters in Christ, suffering so. All I can do is pray, support financially, what I can, and keep entrusting you to the Father. His wisdom is so beyond ours, Job 28:23-24. Praying it all wo rks out for GOOD and for His Glory.

Thank you so much for sharing your life and the life of the church so we can pray accordingly.

BTW, REJOICE in the good news of receiving 12 crates from a couple from Dallas, Texas. Praying that churches, mine included will step up and meet the need and deadline. ( I would do it myself but need to be a caregiver for my 90 year old Mom, plus recover myself from year long cancer treatment)

  3. Dear Lxxx,
Beautiful picture from your balcony in Romania. You are so right , “Marvelous are your works”. Amen

Praying for Sxxxx in his busy days.
That is wonderful the girls from the youth group come to help so faithfully. They are a treasure. Praying for them.

The green tent looks ready to go for the street kitchen ministry. Taking the food to the people just like Jesus did.Praying for this.

Praying eyes of people opened to see the evil and fight it.

Your daily updates bless and encourage sister!
Enjoy your time with your precious grandchildren.

    In Christ,

  4. You are blessed to have this opportunity to be with your grandchildren. It’s so refreshing to be with young children. Just listened to the podcast Explaining Ukraine where they discussed why Germany is responding the way it is. Sometimes I want to stand up and shout, what is wrong with (name the country) citizens? Can’t you see what is happening? Instead, I pray and remember God is in control. One day this too shall pass. In the meantime, enjoy your grandchildren.
