6/18/2022 – Brasov, Romania

From Lxxx ( Day 115): Dear brothers and sisters, It’s one week already of my stay in Romania, away from home. Every day I wake up with thoughts and prayers of my country. Although I enjoy being with my grandchildren and like this nice city I want to go home especially when I read the news or talk with somebody from Ukraine.

Yesterday I heard a sad news. Our elder Vxxxx, who got sick with pneumonia two weeks ago after thorough examinations and tests found out that he has a lung cancer. I am thinking of him all the time. Please, pray for him and for his wife Valya.

Our brother Ixxxx had three days off this week. He came to the church, played music, spent some time with a youth group. It was a joyful time for him and for them.

Two rockets were destroyed in the air this night. They were sent from Crimea to Odessa area. Oil refinery was bombed in Poltava region, the situation in the east is tensed and hard.

The refugees in our town are from different places : Kharkiv, Mariupol, Nikolayev, Kherson, Donetsk region. All these places are either occupied or intensively bombed. I want to go home and I know that soon I will go home, but our refugees who talk about their homes all the time can not go back and they don’t even know if their homes are still there.

Here in Romania everything is quiet and nice. My grandchildren went to Awana club this morning, local Baptist church invites children on Saturdays. I have some quiet time for reading and study.

I wish you to have a good weekend.

In Christ,
Lxxx

  1. Will pray for Vxxxx..hope he can get the treatment he needs.

Today, someone sent me Jeremiah 29:11 verse. And it made me think how Christians can make turn this into a chinese fortune, if they read it out of context. I looked up the context, Jeremiah 29, and read commentary, how God in his sovereignity sent the Israelites off to Babylon. It also gave the scripture reference ig Genesis 41:37-57. It lead me to pray for all the refugees who are now in foreign lands, not knowing if and when they will return to Urkraine. I saw before and after pictures of Mariupol, and am so sad!! This is such a travesty and defies truth..Praying for God’s intervention to STOP this evil.

  2. Dear Lxxx,
It is so good you can rest, enjoy being with your grandchildren and encourage the refugees! It is hard to comprehend what it would be like to be in a foreign land not knowing if one would be able to return to their home!
It is good Kxxx is safe in Odessa and got to go to the organ concert at the church, I would have loved to have been there, too!
Praying for Ukraine, asking the Lord to please stop the war!
Praying for you, Lxxx, that the Lord will renew your strength, as you meditate on His word in this time of rest.
    Love in Christ,
    Jill

  3. Dear Lxxx,
Sorry for the sad news of Vxxxx and his lung cancer. Praying for him and his wife.

Wonderful news that Ixxxx came for a visit to church to play music and spendtime with the youth group. They must have loved seeing him!

Thank the Lord the rockets were destroyed last night that came from Crimea.
    Continued prayer for your safety.

Thank you for reminding us that the refugees the Lord brought to you are from occupied or intensely bombed areas – this helps us to have compassion and pray for them.
I pray for them comfort from Jesus who understands so perfectly.
    Matthew 8:20
Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

And praise the Lord for AWANA – they are everywhere!
Praying you continue to have time to read and study in the beautiful spot in Romania the Lord has you this week.

    Have a good Lord’s day.
    Love in Christ,
    Anne
