8/6/2022 – War Update

From Jamie Peipon: Lots of rubble… everywhere. Every bombing that takes place, and they’re taking place multiple times a day, necessitates the presence of emergency workers who labor to rescue their fellow citizens from beneath that rubble. There will be clean up for years.

It can be hard to find pictures to share here when the war is what it is. Today, a picture of a Russian-occupied area was circulating in social media that featured a Ukrainian POW’s head on a spike. I won’t be sharing those kinds of pictures… but just consider how long it has been since a country in Europe has considered that type of behavior to be acceptable. The barbarism is just beyond belief.

My favorite Eastern European investigative journalist (Christo Grozev) was hard at work this week. His open-source intelligence team geolocated the videos of Russian soldiers torturing and murdering a Ukrainian POW that I wrote about earlier this week. They also were able to identify the main torturer/murderer. Christo then found the man’s found number and called him. He says that they spoke for more than 20 minutes and that the conversation was “blood-curdling.” The soldier kept lying and then tried to double-back and ended up contradicting himself again and again. The murderer seemed convinced that he was not guilty because “the video is a fake, because the FSB (modern equivalent of KGB) told me so.”

Yesterday, I wrote about the embarrassing Amnesty International story and the Ukrainian division of AI’s organization. Oksana Pokalchuk is the leader of the Ukrainian branch… or, I should say WAS the leader. She left her position today in protest.

In other news, Ukraine is beginning to let more ships with grain attempt the journey to the southern portions of the black sea. This morning, three ships from Ukrainian ports set sail.

In other good news, the US is apparently preparing a new 1 billion dollar package to Ukraine. It should contain ammunition for NASAMS surface-to-air missle systems as well as for the HIMARS. It is expected that it will be announced on August 8th. This package would be the single largest package sent to Ukraine from the USA so far.

“For without cause they hid their net for me;
without cause they dug a pit for my life.
Let destruction come upon him when he does not know it!
And let the net that he hid ensnare him;
let him fall into it—to his destruction!”

  1. Yes, the barbarism is atrocious! How anyone can do this to another human being is beyond my comprehension, but it reveals the depravity of man, and the depths of evil of the evil one. Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord, I will repay. Romans 12:19 It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the Lord Hebrews 10:31. Oh Lord, end this war quickly, make these persons who commit war crimes, be held accountable. Have mercy on Ukraine and her people. Reveal your arm!

  2. Thank you for taking the time to share an accurate understanding of the war. May the Lord confound all the plans of the enemy and give wisdom and protection to rhe Ukrainian army.
