From Jamie Peipon (Jackson, MS): “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works…”
I can’t tell you how grateful I am for all the work that so many have put into these crates for Ukraine. These crates are bursting at the seams with socks and tourniquets, and also with godly love and compassion. The members of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, MS have worked hard to put these together. People have organized and packed as Sunday school classes, as discipleship groups, as groups of friends, as a school, and even as a choir (the dearest choir in all the land, I might add).

The ripple effect that this work has created is remarkable. We’ve had crates delivered from Raymond, Bethesda, and Yazoo City. A few came up from Baton Rouge (with help from Charles Marchman and his church), one more came from Nashville. We’ve had medical supplies sent from Georgia. We had tourniquets sent from folks throughout Mississippi, Florida, Maryland, Delaware, Ohio, Massachusetts, Washington, Hawaii, Texas, Louisiana, Michigan, Tennessee, Colorado, Virginia, Alabama, and Germany. I’ve also been told that other churches were inspired to participate in this same program as they’ve seen and heard about the way God has moved among his people here.
Our staff mission coordinator Jo L Mayfield has had her hands in almost every single one of these crates as she’s counted contents, maximized space and weight in each crate, and allowed me to commandeer her printer. Mary Boothe Ball has been working tirelessly to help us convince the airlines to let them all fly. Margaret Wicker McPhillips and her team got the details communicated quickly and clearly. Wesley Rule and William Skinner have been quick to drop things they’ve been working on to help with many of the least enviable tasks. And there are many more!
Of course, packing these crates is only the beginning. I can’t wait for our team to get these crates there and for their contents to be put to good use in the name of our Savior and for His glory.
