8/28/2022 – Belgorod Dnestrovsky: The Wedding

From Lxxx (Day 185): Dear brothers and sisters, We had a wonderful week and yesterday was a day full of blessings. We celebrated the wedding of Ixxxx and Lxxx. It’s such a joy to see the creation of a new family that wants to serve the Lord.

We were in the church from the early morning doing the last preparations and meeting the guests who came from Odessa and from Brasov, Romania. It was nice to see our brothers and sisters from other churches.

The ceremony was very solemn and soul touching. Pastor Gxxxx from Odessa, who is Lauren’s pastor, took her down the aisle and he also preached the Word of God to the new couple and to everybody present. Then Sxxxx did the wedding part, when Ixxxx and Lxxx gave their oaths and exchanged rings.

We had a lot of fun yesterday afterwards playing games, singing, dancing and enjoying delicious food. There was one air alarm, but it happened when we all were having refreshments in our church fellowship room which is in the basement.

We were glad to have Ixxxx’s friends soldiers (they call themselves “war brothers”) in our church. They had completely new but very special experience being at the wedding, because it was very different from the traditional weddings people have in our community. I talked to a young man who was very touched by the sermon message he heard and by the ceremony. “ It’s the first time I am experiencing such feelings. You have a very special atmosphere here. Are you all relatives?” I told him that we are the church and explained what we do as a ministry and about the fellowship we often have together. It is something completely new for the people from the world. I thank God that now every day we have an opportunity to share our life with people around.

Let’s pray for God to give us more and more opportunity to do it in our communities and in our countries.

In Christ,

  1. Absolutely wonderful!! Praise God for this lovely couple! And praise God for His mercy in giving that community such a beautiful moment to celebrate in the midst of war! He is good.

  2. Congratulations to the happy couple, and may God grant them many years of blessings. I remember my grandmother telling me over and over of how her church had one week to prepare for her wedding, as my grandfather was to leave for WWII the week after their wedding. He lived to 100 and my grandmother into her 90’s, and they left behind a very large family – down to many great and great, great grandchildren! Hope the same for the young couples getting married in Ukraine!
The churches, from your accounts, are doing their best, still a model to us in the rest of the world, and I am so thankful that God is giving you the blessings to accomplish it.

  6. Such a joyous occasion as these two became one in holy matrimony. May God bless them abundantly above what we can ask or think. We are so blessed to be part of the family of God!

  7. Dear Lxxx,
What a beautiful bride and groom!
Lxxx is gorgeous! And the groom very handsome!

So special to share the day with the “war brothers” and the Holy Spirit showing them the Lords family’s loove for each other.

The church looks great with all the decorations.
I bet the food was terrific!

May the Lord bless Ixxxx and Lxxx.

  8. Thank you for sharing the photos of the church and bride and groom. Wonderful his war brothers could join him. Sounds like a very blessed time, and how you were able to give glory to God.
Thankful the air sirens did not interrupt the ceremony. Its so wonderful to see joy, the Lord’s amazing grace, in the midst of war.

I read Romans 16 today and am praying verse 20. Also at our church we heard a sermon on Nahum, I couldn’t help but think of you, instead of Ninevah, thinking of Russia, instead of Jacob, think of Ukraine. Praying God’s mercy and deliverance from this war.

  9. Glad to see the diversity of this couple and the joyful reception of their marriage. I concur with Jenny, that this couple would leave a long, Christlike legacy!
