9/29/2022 – War update and commentary: russian war crimes against children of Ukraine

From Jamie Peipon: There are many unsung heroes throughout Ukraine, both in the military and those who offer other kinds of support. Unfortunately, there are also many unknown cowards and villains who work tirelessly to propagate evil for the russians. One of the lesser-known villains of this war is a russian woman by the name of Maria Lvova-Belova. Her job title is “russian commissioner for children’s rights.” Of course, no russian title is exactly like it sounds to western ears. Her main effort over the past months has been to steal Ukrainian children from Mariupol and re-home them in russia. I’ll remind you that this is a war crime. Nevertheless, she openly talks about this war crime as if it is a positive. Today she was quoted by the Moscow Times as saying, “When we brought them to the Moscow region so that they could get their strength back, at first they were negative about the president and said nasty things. They sang the Ukrainian anthem and that sort of thing… but later, that negative attitude turned into love for russia.” This is more than a war crime, in fact, it is an act of genocide. According to the internationally recognized definition from the UN there are only five specific things considered to be acts of genocide. Of those five, one reads as follows: “Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.” They’re openly admitting they’ve done it. The only “piece of the puzzle” that is left is that it must be proven that it was done “with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group.” With all of the archived video and audio recordings from media, intercepted phone calls, and other sources; it seems like this intent should be provable as well.

When there are fresh pictures of dead bodies circulating, mass graves uncovered, civilians being targeted, and threats of even further escalations, it can be a challenge to pay attention to the many other forms that evil takes. But, to be clear, this woman is acting in a way that is entirely evil: invade a country, bomb a city, steal the children, force them to live with those who invaded them. It is absolutely unconscionable and it will continue until russia is stopped.

In an unexpected turn of events (to me anyway), the Nord Stream pipelines have reportedly been destroyed forever. The Danish defense minister has said that it could take up to two weeks before they can even go down and inspect the pipelines. Again, everyone does believe that it was an intentional attack and, due to the complexity required to complete the task, many are saying it could only have been done by a “state actor.” But have no fear! russia’s FSB is launching an investigation into what they are describing as “international terrorism” so we will apparently have answers very soon.

Internationally, most seem to be speculating that russia is to blame. But the motive is unclear. Of course, when you’re dealing with individuals who act on their own definition of rationality, it can be hard for westerners to understand. One news outlet has reported that at least three US officials are saying that there is no firm explanation for what happened.

Seemingly in response to the sham referenda, the United States announced an additional $1.1 billion in aid to Ukraine. According to the briefing, this will include 18 more HIMARS units. The HIMARS Ukraine has already received have entirely changed the battlefield and have been used very skillfully. Currently, Ukraine has 16 such units so having 18 more is an incredibly significant increase. However, it does appear that these additional units are ones that are still being manufactured so Ukraine may not see them for 12-24 months. I suppose there are ways around that, but that seems to be the current situation as it has been reported.

‘They say, “A deadly thing is poured out on him;
he will not rise again from where he lies.”
Even my close friend in whom I trusted,
who ate my bread, has lifted his heel against me.
But you, O LORD, be gracious to me,
and raise me up, that I may repay them!’

  1. Yes, its a war crime, awful! Don’t understand it..however the scripture that came to mine is Psalm 139: 3,5,7-10..to pray for God’s protection for those children who are his. Also, must be so heart wrenching for the parents. My heart breaks for them. I have heard that is the greatest grief, losing a child.

  2. Terribly sad for the children and for their family missing them, if the family is still alive.
    I pray for justice! Somehow may these children be found and returned to Ukraine.

  3. To me, this says a great deal about the level of Spiritual Warfare in Ukraine. If the enemy’s latest strategy is targeting the most innocent and defenseless among us, his situation must be very desperate.

    “It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should cause one of these little ones to stumble.”
