From Maia Mikhauk: The world of easy solutions.
Yesterday Elon Musk outraged thousands of Ukrainians with his ignorant, somewhat simplistic twit that promoted putin’s ideas of peace: 1) illegal referendums in the regions from where millions of Ukrainians had to flee because of war, hundreds of thousands were forcefully deported to ruzzia and thousands were killed or tortured to death; 2) stolen Crimea to be granted to ruzzia based on some pseudo-historic right and 3) Ukraine continue to be unprotected from future ruzzian aggression by staying out of NATO. Elon Musk doesn’t believe in victory of Ukraine because ruzzia is a bigger country. Apparently, his ignorance goes beyond being uneducated in history and geopolitics, he is not aware that the Ukrainian army is successfully pushing out demoralized ruzzian army from our land. He is not aware of the genocide that is taking place in regions of Ukraine occupied by ruzzia. He is unaware that putin in his recent speech announced war against the international order. Elon doesn’t want to be aware of complicated things. He wants to be the guy who offers a simple solution!
He is not the only fan of simple solutions. Our current president got elected in 2019 with a “brilliant” plan to end the war with ruzzia (the war that is really going on since 2014, not since Feb 2022). His idea was to “just to stop shooting”! See how wonderfully that plan worked! Three years of trying to pacify the aggressor resulted in massive invasion!
Pope of Rome voiced a few times a “simple solution” to ending the war – just stop supporting Ukraine, forcing Ukraine to surrender to the aggressor, and suffering will end. For many Ukrainians, it would end in death as that’s what ruzzians do when they occupy territory – they kill Ukrainians and bury hundreds of people in mass graves. Death is one solution to silencing cries of suffering people!
Some of our well-meaning Christian friends keep reminding us, Ukrainians, that we simply need to love the enemy and forgive them for their crimes. And it doesn’t matter that the crimes are ongoing!
Winter is coming. It will be one of the hardest for Ukraine. Thousands of people live in houses destroyed by ruzzians. Ruzzian missiles daily target the critical infrastructure of our cities – they want to leave us without electricity, gas, heat, and water. We know there is no simple solution. We will need to survive this winter and continue to fight for our existence. But Europe will also somewhat suffer – prices are already up, and the houses will not be as warm since ruzzia is cutting gas suppy. Ruzzian propaganda will be pouring into your ears through useful idiots like Elon Musk the idea that there is a simple solution – stop supporting Ukraine, let the bully have his way and we can all live happily ever after. Well, maybe not all, maybe minus one nation (Ukrainians).
Please, don’t buy into simple solutions! Listen to Putin’s speech a few days ago – he announced war against the west. A very small portion of his speech was on Ukraine, just as Ukraine is just a small part of his maniacal sick plans. He still thinks he can win because fear and propaganda (of simple solutions) are his weapons. Ukraine will not let him win. Please, continue supporting Ukraine because you are not only helping us, you are helping yourself. If you think that this war is far from you and putin’s appetite is going to be satisfied with Ukraine, you are kidding yourself. Pacifying a bully may look like a simple solution, but it’s actually fertilizing a problem.
Ruzzians already had a simple solution to the problem of growing dictatorship in ruzzia – ignore it or leave the country. By the way, Forbes is reporting that 700,000 ruzzians have left the country after the announcement of mobilization just a few days ago. Before you start feeling sorry for all these “refugees” from putin’s regime, remember they were not against that regime as long as killing in Ukraine was not putting their own lives at risk.

Dear Maia,
Thank you for writing!
My heart is already broken for Ukraine, now all the more!
The cartoon says it all!! I can relate!
Sometimes I want to scream, when even people at my church are saying, “Putin isn’t so bad” or “what about those Nazi’s in Ukraine?”!!
The propaganda is here too and Americans,especially conservatives are falling for it.
I’m praying for God to bring clarity and to take blinders off.
This Psalm was an encouragement to me this morning,
Psalm 146
Put Not Your Trust in Princes
[1] Praise the LORD!
Praise the LORD, O my soul!
[2] I will praise the LORD as long as I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
[3] Put not your trust in princes,
in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.
[4] When his breath departs, he returns to the earth;
on that very day his plans perish.
[5] Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the LORD his God,
[6] who made heaven and earth,
the sea, and all that is in them,
who keeps faith forever;
[7] who executes justice for the oppressed,
who gives food to the hungry.
The LORD sets the prisoners free;
[8] the LORD opens the eyes of the blind.
The LORD lifts up those who are bowed down;
the LORD loves the righteous.
[9] The LORD watches over the sojourners;
he upholds the widow and the fatherless,
but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.
[10] The LORD will reign forever,
your God, O Zion, to all generations.
Praise the LORD!

I totally agree, how people can be so blind, mystifies me. The Pope, even the Russian Orthodox church is complicit..awful, awful, awful. Where is the universal church, to speak against these atrocities? For shame. 😢😢😢 To me Putin is a modern day tyrant who is diabiolical. It’s so easy to call your enemy a Nazi, to excuse your genocide, to gain power. Evil personified. Praying, praying, praying..❤
