From Lyuda (Day 258): Dear brothers and sisters, It’s a nice morning because we have electricity again. Our day yesterday was gloomy and sad. The morning started with the rocket attack, the enemy planes were flying around launching the rockets. Our air defense worked hard but still one of the rockets hit the power object in Odesa region leaving several places including our town without electricity. Then few hours later the enemy ship sent rockets from the sea and later we learned that some gas supplying facilities were destroyed.

Yesterday it was a little bit challenging but we had been warned about it and we were prepared. But you know, even if you are prepared and know that it is going to happen it is still unexpected. We stayed one day without electricity but some parts of our town are still without light.

We use a generator in our church and we have light and we can boil water to have tea. So we were comfortable having a Bible study with our refugees group. Our topic yesterday was “What Bible says about family” There was so much interest to the topic. There were many questions and discussions. We decided to continue this topic next time because we didn’t answer all questions.

Sergey and I had an adventure yesterday. The day was cold and rainy and we had no heating, so we decided to fire up an old furnace in my parents house. They haven’t used it for ages and it was behind the furniture which we had to move.

Sergey cut some wood ( he grew up in a village, so it was nice for him to refresh some skills). My parents warned us that if the furnace wasn’t used for a long time, it can be very smoky the first time you make a fire there. But it didn’t happen, very soon it became warm and we all felt very cozy snuggled in the arm chairs hearing the cracking of the wood. We think our hobby this winter will be heating the house with wood.

They say that blackouts will be regular and we must adapt to this.
In Christ,
Lyuda

  3. Amazing!! The Lord goes before us and makes paths, even to provide warmth from old, hidden furnaces. I hope your parents will stay warm this winter, but I mostly hope the Russians will go back home and stop their war.
