12/22/2022 – Belgorod Dnestrovsky: Skepticism melts

From Lyuda (Day 302): Dear brothers and sisters,
Our day started with a good sunny morning. The longest night of the year is over and we know that the night of the war will be over soon, too.

We are very happy to see the news about the visit of our President to the United States. It’s very encouraging for us. We are so thankful to the United States and to other countries who give us support in this battle with evil.
This night as usual our cities in the east of Ukraine were bombed. Many people will celebrate Christmas with candles. But we will definitely celebrate Christmas no matter what.

Yesterday I visited our local notary, a woman that I have been cooperating with for many years. She often asks me to translate documents for her. Each time when I talked to her about spiritual things and invited her to the church she was so skeptical that I stopped such conversations with her and talked only about business. Yesterday she was not skeptical, she was sincere and was the first to start talking about faith. She said that her only hope is in God now. One of her clients told her that when he looks at what is happening in Ukraine now he thinks there is no God, it made her think and she looked around and saw this big world that could not appear on its own. She says she started to pray and she feels how God strengthens her every day in this difficult time.

Our counselor Roman came with his wife and son to visit us yesterday and we had a good meeting and were able to discuss our work and ministry, to encourage each other. We talked about our work with refugees. Here, in our small town it’s easier for us to gather people, but in a big city of Odessa it’s much harder.

Vika and Roman work with refugees there and try to bring them together. Some of the refugees come to our soup kitchen there and some come for individual counseling. Roman visits some families at the places where they stay. We talked about the need of a refugee center where we can organize the work. One of very important area is the work with children with war trauma. We ordered some materials for this and we are looking forward to start this work.

We really need a place for this work we pray for the opportunity to buy a facility for a refugee center.

Thank you for your donations. We were able to order several generators and we will receive them this week. It will be a great help to some of our ministries that need electricity.

Please, send your donations to Pathway Ministries

  1. Wonderful news about the notary. We never know how God will use the seeds He asks us to plant. Last Sunday a college student made a public witness of her faith in Jesus Christ, joined our church and was baptized. It was a joyous moment for our church, especially the young woman who is a local missionary to the students of several colleges in the area.
Pray for a Blessed Christmas to you and the people of your town.

  2. Jesus said, “I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” In the midst of great turmoil, even! 🙂
