2/1/2023 – Please, keep praying for Bakhmut

Today’s picture – Bakhmut by Peter Batanov.

From Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 342):

Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation and my God.
Psalm 42:11

Today, Russian forces shelled Bakhmut and hit a residential building, killing at least two civilians, including a 12-year-old boy. It is hard to believe there are civilians still remaining in Bakhmut after the city was turned into ruin.

In the past 24 hours, Bakhmut was shelled with rocket artillery 197 times. If you do the math, you get an artillery attack every 7 minutes. And they say this is an average intensity of attacks in that area. No doubt, it is a miracle that Bakhmut is still standing.

Please, keep praying for Bakhmut, Vuhledar, and other strategically important portions of the frontline. Pray for supernatural protection, for the enemy weapons to fail, and for the military aid to arrive without delays.

Kyiv photographer Peter Batanov writes, “You will never be the same if you have spent at least 24 hours in Bakhmut. Once you realize and physically observe another reality, your perception of the world around you changes forever. You don’t want to leave this place. Not because of the adrenaline, which is constantly on edge because of the shellings. But because you physically feel the importance and necessity of your stay there.”

Lord, have mercy.

  1. Our Father in heaven,
    Deliver us from evil.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
    Lead us not into temptation.
Thine is the power the kingdom, & the glory.
