2/7/2024 – God’s megaphone, trying to shake us out of hibernation and make us aware of the fragility of human life

From Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 348):

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
Isaiah 43:2‭-‬3

I open the news and see destroyed buildings, reports of thousands dead and injured, displaced people warming up by a street fire, and miracle rescue stories. The only difference is that today’s stories are not from Ukraine, and this pain was not caused by a human hand. The powerful earthquake took over 3,000 people’s lives in Turkey and Syria, and the number keeps rising.

Such natural disasters cannot be stopped or prevented by people. I am convinced that they are God’s megaphone, trying to shake us out of hibernation and make us aware of the fragility of human life and the need to value the time we are given.

Please, pray for Turkey, Syria, and other affected locations. Ukraine is sending a rescue mission there – our rescue squads have extensive experience pulling apart the rubble. Turkey was among the countries that welcomed refugees from Ukraine (especially the southern regions of Ukraine) – please, pray for their protection.
