2/28/2023 – May God protect our defenders from Russian weapons, diseases, weariness, and despair

Today’s photo – Bakhmut by Yevgeniy Maloletka. The author of this photo came to Mariupol the night before the invasion and took most of the now-famous blood-chilling pictures from Mariupol during the first weeks of the full-scale war.

From Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 369):

But as for me, my prayer is to you, O Lord.
At an acceptable time, O God,
in the abundance of your steadfast love answer me in your saving faithfulness.
Psalm 69:1

One of the publications made a photo collection (https://bit.ly/3ED7y63) that captures the past year’s key events. I got to the third or fourth picture. I couldn’t bear the pain of memories. I know that art helps us process trauma. There have been a few movies made about the 2014 invasion that we watched and cried our eyes out in the movie theatres. I know that one day we’ll be able to watch movies about this one, but it’s still too raw.

Last night’s attack was limited to kamikaze drones. Out of 14 drones, 11 were shot down. The remaining three caused explosions in Khmelnytskyi. They took the lives of two emergency rescuers helping out at the site of the attack when the Russians decided to repeat the strike. Thankfully, there were no missiles. Russia cannot produce many high-precision rockets, and they have used up most of their missiles, so they are more moderate with the rockets now.

Please, pray for our soldiers. We had snow today; the trenches are full of water and mud. May God protect our defenders from Russian weapons, diseases, weariness, and despair. May He restore His justice and bring an end to this war.

  1. Our Father in heaven,
    Deliver us from evil.
Give us today our daily bread.
    Lead us not into temptation.
Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
    Hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven
For Thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory.
