3/8/2024 – Recognizing women inspite of Soviet associations

From Maia Mikhaluk in Kyiv (377th day since a neighboring country shamelessly broke into our home and is continuing to wreak havoc):

The world is celebrating International Women’s day. In Ukraine, we have somewhat mixed feelings about March 8th as for many of us, the first association is with the Soviet Union where this was a big deal celebration. But let’s not allow bad associations to spoil a day of recognition and celebration of the power of women.

I am especially proud of the strength of Ukrainian women who showed incredible courage, sacrifice, and determination over the past 377 days!

I am also thankful for hundreds of amazingly strong and beautiful women leaders from all around the globe who I have crossed paths with over the years. They not only expanded my cultural horizons but more importantly, inspired me with their courage, giftedness and strength of faith!
