3/10/2023 – Making a difference: CRATES FOR UKRAINE

From Jamie Peipon, Missions Pastor of First Presbyterian in Jackson, Ms: It is hard to capture the scale of these crates in a picture, but this week I drove a very full, 20-foot U-Haul to Dallas that was filled with 101 Crates for Ukraine packed by members of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson, MS. Donations came in from all over the place including from several neighboring churches within our presbytery. According to the estimates on our final spreadsheet, we processed and packed over $60,000 worth of support in about 3 weeks. Unbelievable. Praise the Lord!

About a year ago as part of the “Krakow Crisis Team,” we were driving what seemed to be random deliveries being sent to us in a hotel in Krakow across the border into Ukraine where we unloaded at the local church in L’viv.

In the fall, we sent a team that flew 64 crates as checked luggage that we dropped off as part of the first iteration of Crate for Ukraine.

Now these latest Crates for Ukraine are being sent on pallets, they live in warehouse space, they are moved by fork lifts, and they will be flying freight at the end of this week. It is a blessing to me to see how the Lord’s people have continued to love our brothers and sisters in Ukraine and to improve processes to make it as helpful and efficient as possible.

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”
