4/15/2023 – “Are we there yet?”

Maia Mikhaluk in Kyiv (414th day of ruzzzian invazion):

“Are we there yet?”
We traveled with kids from their very young age. We also did a lot of hiking with them which were not “a walk in the park”. During long trips or challenging hikes this question “are we there yet?” was a popular one. Kids were impatient to get to destination, but the journey was also no less important part of experience. Those were times of family bonding and hopefully building character and strength.

During the last 414 days of invazion and previous 8 years of hybrid war similar thoughts/questions come often to our minds. How much longer, God!? Are we there yet? When will ruzzzians run out of missiles? When will our army start counteroffensive? When will putin be called to God’s judgement?

But then I am thinking about Israelites wondering around the wilderness for 40 years before reaching Promised land. The journey should have taken them a few weeks, not 40 years. When Israelites left Egypt they should have left slavery behind, but it was still in their hearts and we see how sometimes they longed for those days of being slaves. It took 40 years to get slavery out of their system, to really free them.

Ukraine got independence back after the fall of Soviet Union in 1991 but it’s through this cruel war we are finally becoming fully independent, shedding all illusions; we are truly beginning to treasure our culture and language, we free all spheres of our society from ruzzian agents – starting from military, educational, economic areas and finishing with purging Orthodox church of FSB agents. This has become a time of crystalizing our identity as a free nation, shedding our soviet past and most importantly coming closer to God. I do hope we don’t need 40 years. 32 years of independence, 9 of which have been in war with ruzzia should be enough. God, please, give us Victory soon!

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14.

  1. James 5:7-11
Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it gets the early and late rains. You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. Do not complain, brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing right at the door!
As an example, brethren, of suffering and patience, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. We count those blessed who endured. You have heard of the endurance of Job and have seen the outcome of the Lord’s dealings, that the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS:
1.Our belief in the return of Christ can provide us courage to face difficulty
    2. The Lord is full of compassion and is merciful.” Satan will tempt you to think otherwise, but focus on this truth and the truth of who your eternal Father is.
