5/3/2023 – “Ruscism”

Today’s picture is an art piece by Nikita Titov. The artist said that he wanted to make a painting on canvas, and when he finished and took a step back, he saw paint crawling down the canvas to form a tear. The art chose to say more than the artist intended.

From Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 433):

Say to those who have an anxious heart,
“Be strong; fear not!
Behold, your God
will come with vengeance,
with the recompense of God.
He will come and save you.”
Isaiah 35:4

As I’m writing this, half the regions of Ukraine are under the air raid warning. Kamikaze drones have been spotted over Kyiv, Dnipro, and Zaporizhzhia. We pray for God’s protection and His guidance on our air-defense forces.

Today, the Ukrainian Parliament passed a resolution to officially describe the current political regime in Russia as “Ruscism” and condemned it on a legal level. The resolution states that “the Russian Federation’s brutal and unprovoked war against Ukraine has made the whole world see the true essence of Vladimir Putin’s political regime as a neo-imperialist totalitarian dictatorship which is repeating the worst practices of the past and embodies the ideas of fascism and national socialism in the modern version of Russian fascism (Ruscism).” Now, our Parliament calls upon the United Nations, the European Parliament, the European Council, the OSCE, NATO, and governments and parliaments of foreign states to support the condemnation of the ideology, policy, and practice of Ruscism.

We keep praying for God to stop the enemy army. We know He is at work even when we don’t see it. This was on the news about a week ago, but I didn’t see it until a fellow prayer warrior pointed it out to me. There was a case of Russian troops being infected with anthrax after unearthing a burial site for cattle while digging defensive trenches in the Zaporizhzhia region in preparation for Ukraine’s counter-offensive. The deadly disease was diagnosed in at least two soldiers, but the whole unit was ordered into immediate quarantine. It is not something we had in mind when we were praying for the enemy army to be stopped, yet it’s an incredible reminder that God’s ways are not our ways. May it all work out for His glory.
