5/16/2023 – An intense missile attack on Kyiv

From Maia Mikhaluk in Kyiv (447th day of ruzzian invasion): After yesterday’s peaceful day of enjoying the beauty of spring in the Botanical Gardens we had quite a scary night. The air raid started at 2:24am. We must have been in a deep sleep because we didn’t hear the phone notifications and sirens outside. But it was impossible to sleep through what started at 3am. The explosions were very loud, and many. The sounds of one of those vibrated in the walls of our building, it felt close.

In the morning, we learned that it was one of the most intense attacks on Kyiv since the start of the war. Ruzzian invaders attacked Ukraine from the northern, southern and eastern fronts with various types of air-, sea- and land-based missiles – 18 in total.

Six Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles were launched from six MiG-31K aircraft, 9 Kalibr cruise missiles were launched from ships in the Black Sea, and three land-based missiles (S-400, Iskander-M).

All 18 missiles were destroyed by Ukrainian air defense.

All six Kinzhal missiles were targeting Kyiv. Up until recently, those were impossible to destroy, but now our air defense is intercepting those. I can’t even imagine the damage those missiles would cause if they reached targets!

There is some damage in at least 4 regions of Kyiv from the falling debris of those missiles. Our part of Kyiv is among those four.

Thank you for your ongoing prayers for us!
