From Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 474):
The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof,
the world and those who dwell therein,
for he has founded it upon the seas
and established it upon the rivers.
Psalm 24:1-2
A week has passed since Russia destroyed the Kakhovka dam, and they are planning another disaster. According to our intelligence, the Russian soldiers are setting up explosives on the premises of the “Crimean Titan,” the largest manufacturer of titanium dioxide pigment in Eastern Europe, located in Armiansk (the northern part of the currently occupied Crimea). Another piece of evidence is that the occupational authorities are already preparing evacuation lists and salvaging the plant equipment, even though there is no current danger. In the event of the explosion at the “Crimean Titan,” 200 tons of industrial ammonia would go into the air, polluting the north of Crimea and the southern part of the Kherson region.
Apparently, it is evident to the Russian authorities that all of Ukraine will soon be liberated, so they would try to cause as much destruction as possible.
Meanwhile, the relief operations continue in the flooded parts of the Kherson region, and the first estimations are being made about the losses caused by the flooding. Up to 1.5 million hectares (3.7 million acres) of agricultural land may be unfit for farming for the next 3 to 5 years – it would cause losses of 1.5 billion dollars per year. 333 species of animals and plants and ecosystems of 4 national parks are threatened with extinction.
Bohdan Lohvynenko of the Ukrainer team shares his heart-wrenching reports from the Kherson region. He also gained some information from Oleshky and Hola Prystan (the Ukrainian towns occupied by Russia since February 2022, now flooded because Russia blew up the Kakhovka dam). Here are just several facts from the people who managed to escape from there:
- The Russians established a 20-day lockdown, not allowing people to leave or enter the flooded cities, and volunteers are not allowed to bring in the aid
- Dry-land areas are blocked with checkpoints at which Russian occupiers rob people and tear up Ukrainian documents
- People are only allowed to leave the town with a Russian passport. Most people don’t have one.
- The Russians had misinformed people claiming that the water would stop in several hours and there was no need to evacuate, so many people drowned due to this misinformation as Hola Prystan was flooded on the second day when people already thought that the water had stopped.
- There are recorded cases of the Russians shooting those who tried to evacuate. Soldiers on boats patrol the city, ignoring people and animals drowning or sitting on the roofs of houses.
- Corpses of people, animals, and Russian soldiers are floating around the houses. The Russians have set up ambushes and promised to bring another thousand soldiers into the city in the next few days for “filtration.”
- The locals were not informed about the dam destruction and learned the news through “illegal” Ukrainian TV and the Internet.
If these are just bits and pieces we know, how much more horrific must the whole truth be?
There was information that Russia may be attempting a massive missile attack this night. Lord, please, put an end to this wickedness. Make them realize what they are doing. Make them repent or flee in terror of your righteous anger. Lord, heal our land and our hearts!
