From Ira Kapitonova in Kyiv (Day 498):

We have thought on your steadfast love,
O God, amid your temple.
Psalm 48:9

Last night, it was about 2 am when we woke up from the sound of sirens. We went back to sleep, but in the morning, we found out that Russia had attacked Lviv, one of the westernmost cities in Ukraine, with Kalibr missiles. Our air-defense forces shot down 7 out of 10 because they followed a tricky route. In the aftermath of the attack, 6 people died (the oldest was 95 years old), over 250 apartments in 30 buildings, and 10 dorms were destroyed. That was the largest attack on civil infrastructure in Lviv.

However, there were several amazing testimonies from the Ukrainian Catholic University, whose campus is located across the road from the attack site. Here are the words of one of its alumni and former staff, “Since we have five children, including a baby, we couldn’t go to the shelter. We used the two-wall rule and waited in the corridor. Then one quite powerful explosion occurred, followed by another, even more severe one. […] We instinctively ran to seek shelter in the Church of St. Sophia on campus. On the way to the church, there was a third impact. We fell to the ground, and I physically felt the shockwave, although we were already quite far away. After the alert ended, people came out in the middle of the night to see how their students, how the campus was… Thank God that my family is alive, we are all safe. All that remains is to pray for the victims.” There are more stories of God’s faithfulness.

Today, 45 POWs returned home.

Also, our intelligence services said the risk of deliberate explosion at the Zaporizhzhia NPP is decreasing thanks to the great international attention to the object. And I know it was thanks to the thousands of prayers uttered worldwide.

God is good. Let us pray for more miracles and deliverance.

Psalm 116 I love the Lord, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications. Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live. The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow. Then called I upon the name of the Lord; O Lord, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.
Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful. The Lord preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me. Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the Lord hath dealt bountifully with thee. For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling. I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.
I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted: Isaid in my haste, All men are liars.
What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me? I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord. I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
O Lord, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds. I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of the Lord.
