8/15/2023 – Such losses come day after day in so many shapes and forms. Lord, have mercy!

From Ira Kapitonova near Kyiv (Day 537):

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
John 14:27

Ukraine’s intelligence services warn about the possibility of a massive missile attack on or around our Independence Day (August 24). It doesn’t come as a surprise, but I also remember that we had a similar apprehension last year, but the Lord was merciful.

At the same time, missile attacks continue every day. They may not be massive, extremely destructive, and they may target some smaller towns, but they are never-ending.

Last night, they attacked Odesa with 15 kamikaze drones and 8 missiles. Even though our air defense shot everything down, the fallen debris caused a massive fire in one of the largest supermarkets in Odesa.

A couple of days ago, I saw a picture of an old lady being evacuated from Avdiivka (Donetsk region). She’s lived near the war zone since 2014 until Russian missiles destroyed her home a few days ago. Now, nothing is left of her life, no place to return to or call her own.

Such losses come day after day in so many shapes and forms. Lord, have mercy!

  1. Hebrews 11:13-16
These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.
For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country.
And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned.
But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for He hath prepared for them a city.
