8/16/2023 – Despite all the sanctions imposed on Russia there are countries, organizations, and people ready to come up with loopholes…

Today’s picture kept me in amazement the whole day. This Ukrainian female soldier embroiders the icon with beads during her rest hours at the frontline. She says it helps her relax and regain balance. What a stark contrast, which once again proves that we cannot wait to return to our peaceful lives in free and independent Ukraine. O Lord, God of my salvation,
I cry out day and night before you.
Let my prayer come before you;
incline your ear to my cry!
Psalm 88:1‭-‬2

I couldn’t go to sleep last night after there was an announcement about the expected missile attack. We are still in our relatively safe location, so there is no imminent danger for us, but I often stay up at night to check the news and check on our friends and relatives if needed. I fell asleep around 3 am when the sirens cleared, hoping that was it for the night. About an hour later, my husband woke up from the sound of the missile going over our house, bringing destruction to some unsuspecting people. Russians have learned to program their missiles with complex trajectories so that our air defense cannot spot them, so we don’t know the final destination of this specific missile. When I woke up, I saw that the morning missile attacked the city of Dnipro, Lutsk, Lviv, and towns in the Cherkasy and Khmelnytskyi regions. They aimed at some industrial enterprises, but much damage was done to residential buildings and civil infrastructure.

One of the buildings that was damaged in Dnipro is the sports complex. I’d never been inside, but we often visited the park beside it. It’s one of our favorite places in Dnipro as it’s walking distance from where my parents-in-law live. Now, whenever we go to the park after the war ends, I will think about that sports complex and all the attacks. Russian missiles destroy not only buildings and lives but also shatter our happy memories.

Our air defense shot down 16 out of 28 missiles. Some of the rockets require even better air-defense systems than we have now. From the collected fragments, it was discovered that Russia is already using missiles produced in 2023. There were about 30 microchips used in that rocket that had been imported to Russia. How was it possible? Well, they say that “money does not stink.” Despite all the sanctions imposed on Russia since the invasion of Crimea and the full-scale war, there are countries, organizations, and people ready to come up with loopholes. I saw a recent article about an insane increase in the import of many “under-the-sanction” products to the countries neighboring Russia. It’s impossible to miss the connection unless you desperately cover your eyes or look in the opposite direction.
There was a report from our soldiers who discovered some shelling cases on the abandoned Russian positions in the Luhansk region, and the cases had Chinese language on them. It must have been some humanitarian aid that somehow transformed into military one.

Meanwhile, Russia may be planning another false-flag operation. They have issued an evacuation warning to the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant (Russia) workers. They may stage a provocation to blame it on Ukraine and distract the world’s attention from their nuclear terrorism. We’ve seen their complete disregard for human life, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they do something horrible with many casualties. Unless they are stopped.

I’m sorry if tonight’s post seems too long or packed with too many facts. I myself wish I could write something lighter. In the meantime, I thank God and our defenders that I have been able to keep writing these updates this whole time.

  1. Our Savior lived as a Jew under Roman occupation. Hebrews 3 “We do not have a high priest unable to sympathize with our weakness, but one tempted in every way, just as we are, yet without sin… since He suffered the test, He is able to help those under trial.”
    “If God saved Noah… God knows how to deliver those who trust God out of trials and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment.”2Peter 2

  2. Please continue to post the difficult, the dark. Whatever the day may bring. We will continue to pray for strength, mercy and an end to the darkness and destruction.
