Sapper Vladyslav Yeschenko, call sign “Samurai”, married his beloved Valeriya in a wedding ceremony.

A sapper from the Donbas, Vladyslav, lost his eyesight when 84 anti-personnel mines detonated as he was clearing a minefield. He spent over four months in hospital, but he didn’t give up on life. His fiancée Valeriya stood by him from the start and encouraged him to recover.

Now, Vladyslav helps other soldiers who also became blind because of the war. He shares his experience with them, helps them find useful information and shows them that life can still be meaningful and enjoyable.

Valeriya, who has been Vlad’s devoted partner and a pillar of support from the very start, recently accepted his marriage proposal.
